Post two. We are on a roll now. I am all caught up on my hiking journal/blog. Mr. Taleteller, or as I not so secretly call him, the human tether was thinking about running a week late on all the hikes. Mrs. Taleteller set him straight on that one.
Anyway, last Saturday brought us to Starved Rock State Park. The nice part about this park is that there are many trails to hike. Illinois Canyon is a great trail for beginner pups interested in hiking, especially if you are starting from the remote trail head parking. The trail has a little of everything. Great views, wonderful overhangs, water crossings and waterfalls. Plus, the trail is relatively flat from this parking area. If you were to start from the lodge and vistors center you will have some stairs along the way and an added four miles to your hike.
Anyroo, as the greyhounds say, with my now two posts you have now seen just a few of the fourteen miles in Starved Rock State Park and two of the eighteen canyons, in winter time. Enjoy the rest of the pics.
After spending last summer going from here and there, in Illinois, wandering around some very wonderful areas I decided to start this blog. Who knows if I will be able to keep this going but, I’m giving it a go.
Well, with the beginning of a new year, 2011, we prepared for a News Years Day hike. Rain, Sleet, Snow could not stop us. Two sick humans both with colds would. So January 2nd with everyone feeling better we headed out for our first adventure of the year.
After a drive to Starved Rock State Park we decided to trek out to St. Louis Canyon. Wow! it was totally worth the chilly hike to see the froozen waterfall.
Hiking was somewhat difficult on this trail. The trail was pretty icy. Yep, human dad even fell once. Mom laughed.
Bunny, the hiking greyhound was a supertrooper and a canine fashion statement as always.
